Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and assistance with budgeting and forecasting. The position includes a multitude of accounting activities. The Accounting Manager will have direct contact with management/ownership as well as with production management.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
Ensure an accurate and timely monthly and year end close.
Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
Assist with the daily banking requirements.
Reconcile general ledger balances to supporting detail regarding cash, accounts receivable, customer deposits, inventories, accounts payable, etc.
Oversee the A/R Collection efforts done by the A/R Clerk and provide support when necessary. Establish proper customer credit limits with input from management.
Comply with federal, state and local tax filing requirements by understanding existing and new legislation: anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing of tax and financial reports including monthly "use & sales tax" returns by state: advising management on any needed actions.
Collaborate with management to support overall company goals and objectives.
Support budgeting and forecasting activities
Establish budget objectives by scheduling expenditures: analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
Monitor and analyze financial information.
Proper recording of non-routine reporting transactions.
Respond to inquiries from all members of management regarding financial information and results, special reporting requests and the like.
Work with CPA firm to ensure a clean and timely year-end close for financial statements and tax returns.
Work with management to establish goals and objectives for each year, and monitor and advise on progress.
Support management with special projects and process improvements.
BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting is preferred.
Technical Skills and Prior Experience
Seven to ten years prior experience as an accounting manager in the financial reporting/general ledger area.
Must have strong experience with general ledger and financial reporting software, Excel, etc. Experience with NetSuite systems is a major plus.
As with most management positions, the duties include routine and non-routine responsibilities. The non-routine responsibilities are not always predictable but need to be performed as and when required by the circumstances and management.
